Cheadle Medical Practice is a ‘training practice’.
This means hospital doctors wanting to enter general practice spend one year with us as part of their training in order to gain the experience they need to become family doctors. These doctors are our Registrars.
They have been qualified for at least 3 years before they come to us, and join the team between 6 and 18 months. They are required to video record some consultations. You will always be asked for verbal and written consent first, they videos will be used for teaching purposes only.
We are very proud of our long teaching tradition, indeed many of our partners past and present have previously been our registrars.
New Initiatives in Training
Medical Students and Physician Associates for Manchester Medical School: – In the past we have had occasional medical students at the practice from London Medical Schools. We hope to have Manchester students and Foundation Year Doctors regularly
Foundation Year Doctors: We provide placements for foundation year doctors as part of their training. They are usually with us for 4 month placements and are mentored by one of our GP Partners
We are a training practice for GPs. This means we have doctors working at the practice who have been fully qualified for several years, and are now undergoing specialist training in General Practice. They are an important part of our team and are usually with us for between 6 and 18 months.
We occasionally have medical students, work experience student and other allied healthcare professional (eg: nurse, midwife) students visiting the practice for short attachments.
