Chris Lynas – Social Prescriber

A picture of Chris Lynas, our social prescriber

Chris is a social prescriber – he helps patients with anything that is impacting on their wellbeing and happiness – that isn’t clinical or medical.

Chris says:

“Whether you have a specific challenge in your life: job stress, finances, caring responsibilities, loneliness etc; or you just aren’t quite yourself; we can explore what’s happening, look at options: local services, community groups etc., and discover what will work for you.

We will look at practical issues and the things that you may find fulfilling in life. Patients using the service have got support with benefits, housing, debt, caring responsibilities, antisocial behaviour, domestic abuse, weight management, bereavement and much more.  They have also benefited from finding new hobbies and like-minded friends through a broad range of social groups from air flight simulators to pickle ball.

If you, or someone you know, would benefit from speaking to one of the wellbeing team, you can book an appointment using our easy online self-referral form, via the Cheadle Medical Practice website or by contacting reception on 0161 983 9090.”

Patient Testimonials about Chris:

“Like many of your clients, my life is complex, my own needs, my dad at nearly 92 on the dementia pathway, my 22 year old son with his dream job but struggling with his mental health, returning to live with me 4 years uni after his dad (my husband) died after 5 years stage 4 cancer. In our current NHS, everything is time pressurised, but today I felt I was given enough time, the phone conversation was at my pace, I was listened to, Chris made a connection with me so that I was able to disclose very personal information because I trusted him.

I have been given good advice, relevant links for me dad and son. I feel that Chris can help me and my family. As good as it gets. 11 out of 10.”
