Cheadle Medical Practice uses a triage system.
This means all appointment requests are read by a GP, who decides what happens next.
The GP may send you a prescription for a minor issue without an appointment. This helps us offer appointments to more patients throughout the day.
Urgent and Routine Appointments
Patients are asked to contact us online, whether the matter is urgent or routine.
We will then send you a text message with additional questions about your condition.
Your answers will go to one of our NHS GPs, who will assess your case and provide the best outcome.
This may be self-care advice, a prescription, or an appointment with the best member of the team to help you.
We have a range of experts available to help:-
- Pharmacists
- Physiotherapists
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner
- Paramedics (Craig and Gemma)
- Physician Associate
All within your local Stockport NHS practice! This means our GPs are available to see patients with the most complex and urgent queries.
Don’t worry if you can’t use the online option. You will always be able to phone us on 0161 983 9090. Reception can go through the relevant questions with you on the phone or at reception. If reception is busy we may need to call you back to get extra details.
All the answers are still dealt with by a GP at the practice so you do not gain or lose priority by contacting us this way.
Multiple Issues
If you have multiple medical issues you would like to discuss, it’s best for the GP if you list them all on the online form. This helps us allocate appropriate time for the clinician to deal with all of your health needs. At busy times we may not be able to deal with all of your medical issues in one appointment.
In Summary
- Step One: Contact the GP practice via our website or phone to let us know about your medical issue.
- Step Two: You will be sent a short questionnaire which usually takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Please complete this as quickly as possible so your GP can assess your case.
- Step Three: Your answers are reviewed by a GP who will determine the best course of action.
Please see the video below which explains in more detail:-
