We welcome requests for registration from patients living in or moving to our practice area in Stockport.
If you are not sure whether you are in our catchment area, please contact reception and we will be happy to help.
The quickest way to register is online. If you would prefer, you can also visit reception and ask for a paper registration form.
If you know your NHS number, it can help speed up the process, but you can still register if you do not know it.
Once we receive your registration:
- we will check your details
- we may contact you if we need more information
- we will process your registration as quickly as possible
- we may invite you for a short new patient check if needed
Registration Information
Some patients aged over 15 may be invited for a short new patient check with our healthcare assistant. This helps us update your medical history, current medication and any important health information safely.
If you are currently taking regular medication, please register as soon as possible and speak to reception if you are concerned about medicines during the changeover.
Your Named GP
All patients at Cheadle Medical Practice have a named, accountable doctor who is responsible for coordinating their care.
You can still ask to see any suitable clinician at the practice, not just your named GP. If you would prefer a particular doctor where possible, please let us know and we will always try to help.
SAFE Surgery
We are proud to be a Safe Surgery.
Everyone in the UK has the right to register with a GP and receive free primary medical care.
You do not need proof of address, immigration documents or ID to ask to register.
If you need help filling in the form, need an interpreter, or find it difficult to communicate in English, please ask reception and we will support you.
Temporary patients
If you are staying in the area temporarily and need to see a GP, you may be able to register as a temporary patient for up to three months.
Please contact reception for advice.
